Fresh specimens create a dilemma
Drug developers know there are problems with fresh specimens. However, scientists have been reassured by Big Flow CROs that the specimen quality won’t suffer if processed within 72 hours. But that just isn’t so.
Teiko data from three healthy donors (👉) on 25 parameter Spectral Flow shows a pronounced degradation over time.
That means, that blood samples arriving at 33 hours and 70 hours after draw might not be comparable.

Collect Blood
Collect blood at clinical site & invert the vacutainer 10x.
Lyse & Fix
Transfer 2 mL of blood to Buffer 1; Incubate at room temp for 15 mins.
Stabilize & Store
Transfer entire volume to Buffer 2 and mix. Store in -80C or ship on dry ice.
